The league wasn’t anything like the NFL: It was all about offence. Maybe we didn’t always love the teams and the rivalries and the matchups and the ownership tussles and the roster uncertainty, but the game, the game has usually been fun.
That used to be the one thing you couldn’t really argue about. It was a lack of offence, of offensive stars. If this season has had one problem more than any other - and we’ll push the live attendance issue to the side for a moment - it was entertainment value. Now, it is neither living nor dying, somewhere in between maybe, existential football, and there isn’t a single quarterback in a league built for quarterbacks, that is probably worth celebrating. The league was dying and yet flush with talent.
